A Word From the Board... Index of Reports from Rose Lawn Board of Trustees |

Inagural Report by Lynn Henderson, Chair / February 2000 The common humor about Boards and committee work is the slowness with which progress is typically made. There is undeniably a lot of truth to that humor. And, the ten of us on the Rose Lawn Board of Trustees have been guilty of that same humor -- until earlier this week when we reviewed our accomplishments over the past one year. And what a list it is! |

A Postcard History of Rose Lawn by David Parker, Vice Chair / March 2000 I've recently acquired several old postcards showing Rose Lawn in the first half of the twentieth century. The cards are delightful reminders of a day gone by. One included the postal rates in the place for the stamp: "Domestic 1¢, Foreign 2¢." |

Preserving Rose Lawn as a House Museum by Angie Wilson / April 2000 Rose Lawn is a place that grows within the heart. I remember Rose Lawn as a child when I used to walk down Cherokee Avenue. The eccentric architectural style demanded my attention. The English manor-style carriage house also fascinated me. Some houses had simple one-car garages tucked behind the main house. But Rose Lawn had a carriage house! |

Unravelling the Past by Candy Antonio / May 2000 A rocking chair, a letter, a dress, and a piano are all clues. We use them to unravel the mysteries that cloak the lives of Sam Jones, Rebecca Latimer Felton, and Rose Lawn itself. Even a porcelain sink on the porch hints of a different way of life. |

Taking Time to Smell the Roses by Susan Howard / August 2000 So much to do and so little time...seems to be on everyone's mind lately. How did we become so busy? With so many new gadgets in our kitchens, on our cars, in our offices, and in our lives, coupled with the incredible amount of information thrown at us in this information age, we still pressure ourselves into a go-go-go lifestyle. |
